‘Sunbeams and salt' – What a great Australia day!

Thank god the weather was bliss. It seems everyone on Australia day got into the true blue spirit in record numbers recognizance of the good old Slip Slop Slap campaign from a few years back. Pubs every where had customers wearing their patriotic colour's and enjoying a good old ice cold beer or a glass of bubbles.

I was witness to a great Australia day sports event at the new Towradgi beach hotel, with a beach volleyball court in the car park, table tennis open, ten pin bowling, beach cricket, and even thong throwing! Check out the photographs from this amazing event in our feature hotel and promotion of the month.

Valentines Day was a more subdued event in the hotel industry, but seemed to fair quite nicely with all the on premise venues and the cocktail rage.

Perhaps this month we should be focusing more on singles with the introduction of perfect match. A great promotion available for all hotels, you never know we might even have a wedding to plan for next year's Valentine's Day.

White Wine: Of The Month

This unique blend has all the traditional clare valley varieties Gewurztraminer and Riesling, with the newcomer pinot gris. The taste of lychee, tropical fruits and rose petals is intriguing. The palate explodes with gorgeous lemon and lime flavours with a dash of spice and Muscat . This is by far my most loved variety and product I have experienced for some time. 9.5/10 This is an experience and a beautiful food wine.

Death by Chocolate
cocktail recipe

1 shot vodka
1 shot de kuyper cre'me de cacao - brown
1.5 shots amarula cream
3 scoops ice cream - chocolate of course!

Method: Blend all ingredients together with crushed ice and serve. Garnish with shavings of chocolate if desired.

Chocolate Martini Recipe
6 parts vodka
1 part chocolate liqueur
chocolate curl / flake

Method:
Combine vodka and liqueur in a mixing glass with ice cubes and stir. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with chocolate curl / flake.

Red Wine: Of The Month

The Lodge Hill vineyard produces Shiraz of distinctive quality. The wine truly is a reflection of the vineyard, and the 55 years of experience this wonderful family have made shiraz in the clare region The late Jim Barry would be proud of his son's nuance, high taste and personality the wines show today. 'A beauty' 9/10.
