Edcon Steel is Sydney’s largest and most established steel merchant. As a 40-year-old business, Edcon Steel is steeped in tradition. It enjoys a fantastic reputation for looking after its customers big and small from its chain of stores across NSW. While working with this client on a website project, we came up with a Big Idea, which we believe has changed the face of the entire industry.

Here’s what we came up with – a steel finder database and online steel store. What this means is whether you’re a huge commercial company or a humble DIY handyperson, you can search for any specific steel item, plus get a real-time quote, in just a few easy steps. This project posed some fun challenges for us. They included the complexities of aligning our software to the company’s enormous internal database and hand drawing more than 24000 pieces to feature on the store!

It was entirely worth it. Business has quadrupled since the introduction of the online database and store. To date, Edcon Steel is the only steel merchant that offers this essential online service.
